One of the early signs of aging is volume loss in the cheeks from a combination of fat and bone absorption. Two competing products, Voluma and Restylane Lyft, are new fillers that use hyaluronic acid (a sugar that naturally occurs in the body) to plump up sagging skin and hollow cheeks. To numb the pain, both of these products contain lidocaine and are injected at a deep level, on top of the cheek bones. The plumping effects can last as long as two years. Aside from some tenderness and possible short term redness and bruising, there is no recovery time needed.
