Breast Procedures

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Tualatin and Portland, Oregon

A breast procedure is any surgery that addresses the breasts, whether it’s a breast lift, augmentation, or a combination of the two.

Over time, several factors can alter the composition of your breasts, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal changes, weight gain, and more. While these changes are natural, they can result in a deflated or sagging appearance and affect how you feel about yourself. With a breast procedure, you can address these concerns and restore your cleavage and self-confidence.

Dr. Aaron D. Gorin is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Gorin Plastic Surgery & Medspa. Throughout his career, Dr. Gorin has amassed more than two decades of experience and has helped thousands of patients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond transform the appearance of their breasts.

About Breast Procedures

Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, can elevate the position of the breasts to restore a firmer feel and perkier appearance without significantly altering volume. (1) Dr. Gorin can perform a breast lift to address the physical changes caused by breastfeeding, pregnancy, weight gain, and more. These can include sagging skin, malpositioned nipples, and an overall deflated appearance.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is a procedure that can enhance the shape, size, symmetry, and volume of your breasts using implants. Dr. Gorin offers both saline and silicone implants, depending on your anatomy and goals. (2)

Breast Augmentation with Lift

A breast augmentation with a lift is a procedure that combines the techniques of breast augmentation and a breast lift to improve the shape, positioning, firmness, and fullness of the breasts. This procedure is also called an augmentation mastopexy.

Vectra 3D Imaging

Vectra 3D Imaging is a cutting-edge technological tool that will let you see what your results might look like as a result of your breast procedure. This system adjusts a digital scan of your breasts to show you the different potential outcomes of your breast procedure. After seeing your potential results, you and Dr. Gorin can collaboratively adjust your treatment plan. With Vectra 3D imaging, you can take more control over your final results.

Candidates

Candidates for breast lifts generally want to improve the overall shape and position of their breasts while at the same time going to a smaller bra size (but perkier!). On the other hand, you may find breast augmentation to be more beneficial if you are interested in elevating the size, shape, and fullness of your breasts. If you want to adjust both volume and position, you may want to consider a combined breast augmentation with lift.

To qualify for a breast procedure, you should be in good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. You should be nonsmoking or willing to quit for an extended period of time. It is also best if you are not planning to be pregnant again, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect the results of breast procedures. Dr. Gorin will finalize your candidacy during your personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

Breast procedures are highly personalized, which is why we ask that you attend a personal consultation before scheduling your procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Gorin will meet with you individually to discuss each option, determine your candidacy, and create your treatment plan. He will assess your medical history, listen to your personal concerns, and learn more about your ideal aesthetic. He will also perform a physical examination to assess your natural anatomy and skin quality.

Dr. Gorin will then use this information to start creating your treatment plan. To help visualize your results, he will use the Vectra 3D imaging program to create a digital scan of your breasts.

To schedule this consultation, please request a consultation online. If you have any questions or would prefer scheduling your consultation over the phone, you may call (503) 692-7222 to reach our Tualatin office directly.

Preparation

Once you have scheduled your breast procedure, you will need to begin making certain preparations. Dr. Gorin will give you a set of detailed pre-operative instructions to help you prepare. These include:

  • Discontinue Certain Supplements: Refrain from taking any blood-thinning medications or supplements under medical guidance.
  • Arrange Transportation Home: Have a trusted relative or friend drive you home after your procedure. Dr. Gorin uses general anesthesia during each procedure, which means that you will be unable to transport yourself home.
  • Prepare Time Away: You will need to request time away from each of your responsibilities and commitments to give yourself time to heal.
  • Pick Up Your Medications: Fill any prescriptions that you may need for your recovery ahead of time to reduce any potential post-operative stress.
  • Avoid Alcohol: Stop consuming alcohol in the days before and after your breast procedure.
  • Stop Smoking: Cease nicotine consumption in the weeks leading up to your procedure.

Recovery

After your breast procedure, it is common to experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the breasts. These effects are transient and will dissipate on their own as you continue to recover, but you may also manage them using a cold compress, medications prescribed by Dr. Gorin, and plenty of rest. You will also need to wear a supportive bra as you heal, which will prevent further swelling and maintain your renewed curves.

You may return to light activities and desk work after approximately one to two weeks. However, you will need to continue refraining from any strenuous tasks or vigorous activities until Dr. Gorin has cleared you to return.

Results

You will be able to enjoy the full results of your breast procedure once you have fully recovered. While your results will vary depending on the exact procedure you receive, you can expect to achieve rejuvenated, more youthful-looking breasts. You may also notice improvements in your proportions, which can contribute to a more desirable figure overall.

The results of our breast procedures are long-lasting, with effects that you can enjoy for years to come. Implants may require eventual replacement.

FAQ

How will I know which breast procedure is right for me?

During your personal consultation, Dr. Gorin will talk with you about your medical history, personal concerns, and goals. He will also perform a physical evaluation to assess your breasts and related concerns. Using these details, he will determine the most effective solution for your case.

What is the difference between a breast lift and breast augmentation?

A breast lift refines the shape and position of the breasts without significantly altering their volume. Conversely, breast augmentation refines the size, shape, and fullness of the breasts using implants. If a patient wants to address both position and volume, they should talk with Dr. Gorin about potentially combining the procedures.

How long does it typically take to recover from a breast procedure?

Your exact recovery timeline will vary depending on the extent of your procedure and the natural rate at which your body heals. Generally, you can expect to return to most of your daily activities after taking it easy for at least two weeks, but you will need to refrain from more vigorous activities until Dr. Gorin lets you know it is safe to resume.

How long will the results of my breast procedure last?

The results of your breast procedure will be long-lasting, with effects you can enjoy for several years to come. However, breast implants will eventually require replacement, as they are not lifetime devices. Most patients can have their breast implants for 15-20 years, thanks to modern implant technology.

Can Dr. Gorin perform other aesthetic procedures or treatments alongside my breast procedure?

Yes, Dr. Gorin can integrate additional procedures into your treatment plan for more cohesive results and recontouring. During your consultation, he can assess your candidacy for his other procedures and provide you with personalized recommendations.

What implants are used for a breast augmentation?

Dr. Gorin offers both saline and silicone breast implants. Silicone tends to be the more popular choice because of its exceptionally natural feel. However, some patients may see better results with saline implants—the best implant type for you will depend on your unique aesthetic goals and your anatomy.
