Restylane Contour
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Tualatin and Portland, Oregon
Restylane Contour is a revolutionary dermal filler that is specifically designed for facial contouring and volume restoration. It is an advanced hyaluronic acid-based cosmetic injectable that can provide natural-looking results. Restylane microspheres enter the dermis layer of the facial skin and plump deflated, sunken areas by attracting an abundance of water to the area. With this mechanism, the filler not only augments a more youthful shape, but it restores skin health with greater hydration. Restylane Contour is a Restylane formulation that enhances the mid-face/cheeks, seamlessly blending in with your features and facial movements.

About Restylane Contour
Restylane Contour is just one of 7 fillers currently available in the Restylane collection. All include hyaluronic acid (HA), a vital molecule already found within the human body and skin. When naturally produced, HA acts as a hydrating substance for the skin and eyes, acting as a supportive component for the skin matrix- the epidermis and underlying dermis with various connective fibers. HA even aids in allowing joints to move comfortably with proper lubrication.
As people age, their natural production of HA diminishes, giving way to more signs of aging. Fillers like Restylane Contour counteract these issues by replacing tissue volume. (2) As a biocompatible substance that will not cause an allergic reaction, injectable HA products are well-suited for all interested patients over the age of 21.
XpresHAn Technology
As one of the latest dermal fillers on the market, Restylane Contour has XpresHAn technology, a quality that allows patients to enjoy a more flexible filler that integrates better into natural expressions. With this feature, Restylane Contour avoids creating an “overdone” look. Researchers created this technology by cross-linking, a process that creates larger filaments of HA, adding to its molecular weight. Because of its viscosity from its cross-linked quality, Contour can effectively fill in deep nasolabial folds and add projection to the soft tissue of the cheeks and cheekbones.
Benefits of Restylane Contour
Restylane Contour has a range of cosmetic benefits, including:
- Correction of both age-related volume loss and lack of midface definition
- Greater preservation of facial movement with XpreSHan technology
- Improved balance and symmetry of the midface
- Biocompatibility with your skin
- Instant results with a fast, low-risk injection procedure
- Minimized discomfort with infused lidocaine
- Little to no downtime
Finally, just like all HA fillers, you can choose to reverse the aesthetic changes if you are dissatisfied with your treatment. Your injector can administer hyaluronidase, an enzyme that allows your skin to instantly metabolize and remove the gel microspheres.

Preparation
Before any dermal filler treatment, you should ensure that your skin is well-prepared to attain the best outcome possible. General preparation directions include the following:
- Avoid blood thinners: NSAIDs, aspirin, and other supplements and medications can increase the likelihood that your skin will experience bruising.
- Stop smoking and drinking temporarily: Smoking and nicotine can negatively affect vascularization in the skin and slow down your healing processes. Alcohol acts as a blood thinner and can cause bruising in the treatment area.
- Use a cold compress before your appointment: Cooling the face before undergoing the injections can further prevent bruising and eliminate discomfort.
Restylane Contour Treatment Steps
During your official treatment appointment, your injector will first cleanse the area and apply a topical anesthetic to diminish the discomfort. This, with the combination of lidocaine present in Restylane Contour, should make the procedure highly tolerable. Luckily, the midface is not as sensitive as other areas, such as the lips.
Next, your injector will perform the treatment with either an ultrafine needle or a microcannula, which is designed to avoid injecting blood vessels. They will administer small amounts of Restylane around the midface, providing instant results. If the needle becomes too dull during the process, they will switch to a new needle to be able to continue the procedure with ease. After each injection, they will gently massage the skin to allow the gel to spread evenly throughout the treatment area.
Recovery and Results
Recovery after Restylane Contour is usually minimal, as with any injectable procedure, but your recovery will depend on your skin’s sensitivity and the number of injections you receive. You may want to apply ice immediately afterward to discourage the onset of bruising. It is normal to experience mild swelling and bruising post-procedure, but these symptoms will resolve relatively quickly within a day or two. Your injector will advise you to avoid exercise, sweating, alcohol, sunlight, and heat for a few days to avoid aggravating your skin.
While you will notice immediate improvements, your final results will not settle in for another 2 weeks; by this time, the swelling will have fully subsided. If you need, your injector can address minor issues after this 2-week period or add more Restylane Contour if you have yet to attain the full volume you want. Your outcome will last from 6 to 12 months, depending on your unique metabolism, your skin, age, and other factors.
Corresponding and Complementary Procedures
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is another HA injectable with its own collection of unique filler formulations indicated for different parts of the face. Gorin Plastic Surgery & Medspa offers Juvéderm Volux, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, and Skinvive – all capable of rejuvenating the skin in specialized ways that avoid the “overdone” look. Volux is FDA-approved for defining a sharper jawline, while Voluma is more suitable for age-related midface volume loss and provides noticeable results for almost 2 years. Volbella is the least viscous substance in the Juvederm line, making it effective at filling in finer wrinkles, such as “marionette lines”. Vollure’s formula is versatile and safe for the high-movement areas around the mouth and can add more significant volume to the lips than Volbella. Skinvive is a Juvéderm product that does not create a plumping effect like the other products, but it can serve to renew skin health with more hydration, providing a radiant glow for patients of all ages. Since Skinvive is still HA-based, it may help to smooth out minor lines that have not yet become prominent.

FAQ
Who should avoid Restylane Contour?
Restylane Contour is not appropriate for those who are under 21 years of age or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Injectors should avoid administering the filler to patients who have recently used blood-thinning medications or have severe allergies- especially to lidocaine, which is present in the filler. Those with bleeding disorders may experience severe bruising.
Can you reverse the effects of Restylane Contour?
As a type of hyaluronic acid injection, injectors can erase the plumping effects of Restylane Contour by administering hyaluronidase, an enzyme that processes and metabolizes the HA microspheres right away.
How can I make the results of Restylane Contour last longer?
Your Restylane Contour results will depend on how fast your metabolism processes the HA, your age, and your treatment areas. Still, practicing good skin care practices like being gentle with your skin and using sunscreen every day can contribute greatly to how long your results will last. Most of all, maintaining adequate hydration will help significantly since HA binds to water molecules within the skin.
